ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT CAPACITIES OF CHEESE PRODUCERS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF BOYACÁ

Abstract
Cheese producers in Boyacá, Colombia, face challenges related to competitiveness and innovation, limited by infrastructure, financing, and a lack of entrepreneurial mindset. Despite the cheese’s designation of origin, these obstacles affect its development in both national and international markets. Therefore, the study aims to evaluate the organizational management capabilities of cheese producers in Boyacá, focusing on strategic, technological, personal, and organizational capacities to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement. A qualitative analysis was conducted using Likert-type surveys, assessing company capabilities based on their value, rarity, and exclusivity. Capacities were analyzed across four key dimensions. Among the main findings is that producers show limited progress in strategic planning, human capital development, and innovation. However, most companies lack advanced technology and efficient organizational processes, restricting their growth potential. In conclusion, it is necessary to strengthen technological and organizational management capabilities to improve competitiveness and seize market opportunities.
